Șarbă

Șarbă is a wine that feels born from morning light. Less solemn than Fetească Neagră and more playful than Tămâioasă Românească, it carries within it the bright, living energy of eastern Romanian vineyards after spring rain. It is a wine of movement: crisp, aromatic, and impossible to keep entirely still in the glass.
Its aromas rise quickly: elderflower, green apple, citrus peel, wild field herbs, sometimes a whisper of peach carried on cool air descending from the hills. There is something youthful about Șarbă, even when carefully aged, as though the grape itself resists heaviness and insists on retaining sunlight within its veins.
To drink it is to wander through the countryside of Romania in early summer, when vineyards shimmer under long evenings and the world smells of cut grass and flowering acacia. One imagines white linen drying in the wind, distant church bells, and narrow roads curling through villages where time softens rather than disappears.
Șarbă possesses a rare balance: aromatic without vanity, lively without sharpness. It refreshes not only the palate but the spirit, awakening the senses the way cool river water revives tired hands. Unlike wines that ask for contemplation in silence, Șarbă invites laughter, shared meals, open windows, and stories that continue long after sunset.
There is also something distinctly Romanian in its character: resilient, joyful, modest, memorable. A grape born from local soil and local imagination, it offers its own voice: clear, bright, and touched by the gentle wildness of the Carpathian landscape.
Șarbă tastes like a country rediscovering itself through its vineyards, fresh, hopeful, and quietly radiant.
